01 / The challenge
A community needs a front door.
In this example scenario, someone hears about Indonesia Remote Club through a friend, then lands in a maze of social posts and group links. They still need to figure out what the community does, whether it is active in their city, and how to join.
The design challenge was to turn that uncertainty into a simple journey: understand the community, discover something nearby, and feel comfortable showing up. The website needed to work just as well for a curious first-time visitor as for a returning member looking for the next meetup.
02 / The approach
Start with belonging. Make the next step obvious.
The proposed experience follows the questions a newcomer would ask, rather than the way the organisation is structured.
A chapter before a commitment
City-based discovery brings the experience closer to home. Visitors can explore a local chapter before being asked to join anything.
Show what showing up looks like
Event cards lead with the format, location, and date. A short “what to expect” section explains the atmosphere and helps first-time guests feel prepared.
One invitation at a time
The event detail page has one primary action: join this gathering. A short, mobile-friendly form keeps the path from curiosity to RSVP easy to follow.
03 / A closer look
04 / The reflection
A path from browsing to belonging.
The proposed result is a reusable set of chapter and event pages with a consistent join flow. This draft has no measured launch results; the next step would be to test event discovery and RSVP completion with first-time visitors.
